It started with a very simple reality:
Sometimes, you need your hands back.
If you’ve ever tried to move through your day while holding a little one who refuses to be put down, you understand.
The one-handed meals.
The unfinished tasks.
The constant juggling.
There’s love in that season.
But there’s also exhaustion.
The first time I experienced how babywearing could shift that rhythm - the calm, the closeness, the freedom to move, something clicked.
Not because it made life perfect.
But because it made it lighter.
That moment stayed with me.
And slowly, it became Japheth Chiara.
Babywearing wasn’t some grand business idea at first.
It was simply what helped make the day more manageable.

I had two choices:
Walk away.
Or rebuild properly.
Walking away would’ve been easier.
But I chose to start again from scratch.
I visited factories.
I tested materials myself.
I asked more questions.
I slowed down the process instead of rushing it.
When I decided to build something from that idea, I thought I had everything lined up.
The supplier.
The samples.
The plan.
Then reality hit.
Our first production run came back wrong – materials not as promised, standards not met.
And just like that, $17,000 was gone.
