What’s OEKO-TEX® Standard 100? 🌿

You’ve seen the label.

But what does it actually mean?

Because honestly? When something sits right next to your baby’s skin, “certified safe” should come with a proper explanation. Not just a logo.

So here’s what it actually means… no fluff, no jargon. Just the stuff that matters.

What it actually is 👀

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 is one of the most trusted textile safety certifications in the world.

But here’s the part most brands don’t tell you…

It’s not just about the fabric.

Every single component, the fabric, the filling, the thread, even the label itself, has been independently tested. Against 1,000+ harmful substances. Things like formaldehyde, heavy metals, pesticides, azo dyes, and phthalates.

So when you see that label on a Japheth Chiara product? It means the whole thing has been through rigorous testing. Not just the part that looks good on a product photo.

Why it hits different for baby products

Okay but here’s the part that matters most for your little one. 👇

OEKO-TEX® has 4 product classes. And Class I is the strictest one.

It’s reserved specifically for babies and children up to 3 years old.

Why? Because baby skin absorbs substances up to 65% more than adult skin. ANDDD their immune systems are still developing.

Which means what touches their skin… actually matters. A LOT.

Class I limits are the lowest of all four classes, meaning the standards are tighter, the checks are more thorough, and the testing is more rigorous. Because tiny bodies deserve that level of care.

It goes above and beyond

Here’s something worth knowing.

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 doesn’t just meet most national and international safety laws. It exceeds them.

So it’s not just “legal” and cleared to sell. It’s going above and beyond what’s even required. Because “technically allowed” isn’t the same as “genuinely safe.”

And when it comes to your baby? We’ll always choose genuinely safe. 🌿

It’s not a one-time stamp

This one’s important.

OEKO-TEX® certification isn’t something you get once and keep forever. It’s independently retested every 12 months.

So that label? It’s not from a test done three years ago. It’s current. It’s verified. It’s renewed.

Every year. Because safety shouldn’t have an expiry date.

Why we went and got it

When we decided to bring our products to life, we didn’t just want something that felt safe. We wanted proof.

Not for marketing. For you.

For the moments at 3am when your baby is pressed up against that bolster, finally asleep, and you just want to know… this is okay. This is safe.

That’s what OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 gives you. Not just a claim. A certification you can actually trust. 💛

Because comfortable should never come at the cost of safe. And with Japheth Chiara? It never will.
